Established in 1996

We are the Scott County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (SCARES) radio club.
We provide our communication expertise to the Georgetown-Scott County Emergency Management Agency/Office of Homeland Security.

Our HAM operators are officially licensed and continually renew their education through learning activities and practical exercises that incorporate realistic emergency scenarios

Our Goals

  • Exchange information and foster cooperation between members to promote radio knowledge.
  • Enhance and provide emergency communications.
  • Conduct club programs and activities to advance the general interest and welfare of amateur radio.

ARRL Affiliated Club

Since 2013 SCARES has been an officially affiliated club with the American Radio Relay League.

Monthly Meeting Information

Meetings occur on the third Saturday of most months, except December at 9:00 AM at the Scott County Extension Office.
Some after-meeting activities require us to meet at other locations, please email us to confirm the meeting location.

Non-members are always welcomed and encouraged to attend.
